Dear colleague,

As you may already know, the BAND collaboration is building a Cyberinfrastructure Framework that will facilitate the Bayesian Analysis of Nuclear Dynamics. (For more details see  https://bandframework.github.io/.)

Each summer BAND will offer "BAND Fellowships": an opportunity for graduate students to work with one (or more) of the senior members of the BAND collaboration on a project of mutual interest. The goals of these Fellowships are:
a) further development of the software that will make up the BAND Framework;
b) prominent application of BAND Framework tools;
c) to expose the next generation of scientists to the tools & ideas of the BAND collaboration.

For Summer 2024 BAND Fellowships will occur in-person on one or more of the BAND campuses (Berkeley, Miami (OH), Michigan State, Ohio, Ohio State, Rice). We envision Fellows coming to one of these locations for six weeks in Summer 2024. They would receive support for accommodation and local expenses during that stay. Limited support for travel to and from the host campus is also available.

You can find a list of BAND members and details on their expertise at https://bandframework.github.io/team/. This will give you some idea of the range of projects that might be available. The BAND Fellows program this year will be quite focused. We seek Fellows who can quickly get up to speed regarding our methods and problems and so help us complete scientific advances that will feed into the next release of the BAND Cyberinfrastructure Framework.

If you are working with a student who may be interested in taking up a BAND Fellowship in Summer 2024 please forward them this email and encourage them to apply for a BAND Fellowship. And if you are a student who's interested please consider applying! We are especially interested in recruiting students who will contribute to a greater diversity of backgrounds and identities amongst the practitioners of theoretical nuclear physics.
